What is Webcasting?
Webcasting is a broadcast of an event or lecture through Internet, either for immediate viewing or for delayed use. It is much like radio and Television broadcasting. For example Gautum Budh Technical Uiversity is going to broadcaste the footage of its 8th convocation.In this streaming of media takes place that may be audio, video or may be both. Normally webcasts are used by commercial, non profit and educational group information.
Requirement for webcasting
1. Internet
2. Appropriate software
3. Host Server and Capture card
How It workes
Content is recorded or encoded on system by using software program and then it is sent to the host’s server.From their it is available to the viewer on the internet. Most of the WEBCASTING supports Windows Media Player or some specific media player for better streaming of the live or delayed footage or broadcasting
Use of Webcasting
1.Broadcasting public meetings, presentations, speeches, promotions, and other informative events over the Internet
2. Enabling remote access to staff training materials via State websites or in real-time
3. Allowing widespread emergency notifications via State websites or on real-time displays.
4. Providing government information and assistance to the State's citizens and businesses through this alternative service delivery channel.
5. Reducing travel time and expenses necessary to attend meetings, speeches, presentations, etc.
